An immediate dental implant is placed at the very moment the tooth is extracted, taking advantage of the freshly created socket. What an immediate implant is
The usual approach has been to extract the tooth, wait for the area to heal and place the implant months later. The immediate implant changes that scheme: in the same session the unrecoverable tooth is removed and the implant is placed in the socket. In selected cases it is even possible to fit a provisional crown the same day through immediate loading, although this is assessed case by case.

In those cases it is more prudent to extract, let the area heal and, if needed, carry out a bone regeneration before the implant.

The decision is made after a study with imaging tests showing the bone and the root. The specialist assesses the quantity and quality of bone, the condition of the gum and the absence of infection. Only if everything is favourable is the immediate implant proposed; otherwise, the safest option for the long-term result is chosen.
Aftercare
